Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a hands-on class featuring two beloved Mexican bakery classics — crisp, cinnamon-sugar churros and soft, beautifully patterned conchas. In this festive workshop, you’ll learn both frying and enriched dough techniques while creating sweet treats perfect for sharing.
How the class works:
We’ll begin by shaping and topping each bun with its signature sweet streusel shell before baking to golden perfection. You’ll learn proper dough development, shaping, and decorative scoring techniques that give conchas their classic look. Due to class time- we will have pre-mixed the base dough to start the fermentation process.
Next, you’ll prepare traditional pate au choux churro dough, pipe and fry to crisp perfection, and toss them in cinnamon sugar. We’ll finish with dipping sauces such as chocolate ganache or dulce de leche for a bakery-style presentation.
Throughout class, we’ll cover dough consistency, proofing, frying temperature control, and tips for achieving light interiors with crisp exteriors.
What you’ll take home:
A box filled with freshly baked conchas and warm cinnamon-sugar churros with dipping sauce — ready to enjoy or share.
