Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

We are located at 2708 Pacific Ave, Virginia Beach VA. Look for our cute little beach cottage at the intersection of 28th Street and Pacific Avenue!

Do you have parking?

We do! We have a limited number of spots in our parking lot in the back, which can be accessed off of 28th street, right behind the building. Free street parking is available from Oct. – Apr. During the summer, metered parking is available. Please do not park in the hotel lot to the left of the building, you might get towed!

What is your seating availability?

We have small, cozy café, complete with 4 tables of  2-4 chairs each and a 3-seater bar area. When the weather is nice, we also have seating available on our deck and patio!  
Due to safety and fire regulations, tables can not be pushed together to accommodate large parties, but we are happy to box up any of our pastries to-go, so you can share them with a larger group!

Do you offer Wi-Fi?

We do! However we ask that you utilize our bar seating during busy hours if using a laptop or tablet.

What are your hours?

We are open Tuesday-Sunday from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. We serve breakfast all day, and lunch is offered from 11:00am – 3:00pm daily.

What kind of baked goods do you sell?

We focus mainly on French and American Style pastries. Most of our pastries are sweet, but on occasion we will have savory specials. We do not offer cupcakes. Our Savory Breakfast Menu includes our breakfast sandwiches and Quiche du Jour.

Do you have a full espresso and tea bar?

We do! We serve La Colombe Coffee & Harney & Son’s Tea. We do not offer  decaffeinated espresso.

What is your allergy information?

We are not a nut-free or gluten free bakery.  We use dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, & nuts in most products. However we do our best to avoid any cross contamination. 

Do you have anything that is Gluten Free or Vegan?

We do! We have at least 3-4 GF/V pastries available daily, but they tend to sell out quickly. We also have gluten free bread for breakfast sandwiches or lunch sandwiches.  However, we bake primarily with wheat based flours, and our kitchen is NOT GF certified. We do not use separate ovens or equipment for baking GF/ V items. Our treats are not to be consumed by someone with Celiac Disease.

Do you have any vegan or GF cakes?

We currently do not offer any GF/Vegan Cakes.

Are any of your sweet pastries sugar-free?

No.

Do you have cruffins or specific special pastries every day?

No, our menu changes quite often. Our signature pastries listed on our menu are available daily. We change our specials weekly and with the seasons, so be sure to follow our Instagram and Facebook pages for updates on new items!

Are you hiring?

We are always accepting applications!  Please stop by the bakery to drop off a résumé or email it to info@maysparlor.com. We will be hiring for seasonal summer bakers and baristas starting in June.

Can I call and put pastries on hold?

We can not hold pastries for a pickup order over the phone during our busiest days,  Fri-Sun. On the weekends, it is first-come first-serve for all walk-in customers.  You are encouraged to call the day before and place a pre-paid order for pastries of a dozen or more!

Can I get a cake or quiche for tomorrow?

We have a very limited number of 6” cakes in stock daily. These are first come first serve. We do not have extra quiches available for same-day orders. Please call to check on our inventory. We will try our best to accommodate an order, but due to limited space and a large amount of orders it is not always possible. Please place your order at least 72 hours in advance for guaranteed pickup.

How should I store my cake?

To keep cake the freshest, cakes are best stored in the fridge, air tight. When serving, unless instructed other wise, all cakes should be fully room-temperature when eating. If the cake is not at room temperature, the buttercream and cake will be solid as we use 100% European Butter in our products. Give the cake 4-6 hours at room temp before enjoying. 

Will you mail pastries to me?

At this time we do not ship our products.

I’m getting married! Can I come in for a cake consultation?

Absolutely! We hare happy to host cake-tasting consultations for occasions of 50 guests or more. Our cake-tasting fee is $25.00, which can be put towards cake orders of $300.oo or more.  We schedule consultations Wednesday–Sunday between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Please email info@maysparlor.com to schedule your consultation and for more information.

How far in advance should I place my wedding cake order?

Please place your wedding cake orders at least 3 months in advance. At least 6 months is preferable, especially during our wedding seasons (May–June, September–October). You can never order too early!
